Welcome to eMeritApp — a comprehensive school management and student achievement platform ("Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access and use of our platform, websites, mobile applications, and all related services provided by eMeritApp ("we", "our", or "us").

1. Eligibility

You must be:

• A registered member of a participating school or educational institution, or
• Authorized by the institution to access the Service

Parents and guardians may access certain information on behalf of enrolled students.

2. User Accounts

Users must:

• Provide accurate and complete information during registration
• Keep login credentials confidential
• Notify administrators promptly of any unauthorized access

You are responsible for all actions that occur under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts found in violation of these Terms or involved in fraudulent or harmful activities.

3. School and Institutional Responsibilities

Participating institutions are responsible for:

• Ensuring the accuracy of data entered into the Service
• Managing user roles and permissions
• Communicating policies to their users
• Maintaining compliance with applicable student data protection laws

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Misuse, disrupt, or interfere with the Service
• Attempt unauthorized access or perform security breaches
• Upload harmful or illegal content
• Use the platform for harassment, discrimination, or harmful behavior
• Copy, reverse-engineer, or exploit any part of the Service without permission

We may remove content or restrict access if violations are detected.

5. Student Data & Privacy

We are committed to protecting student privacy. Student and school data is:

• Used solely to provide and improve the Service
• Stored securely using industry standards
• Never sold to third parties

Personal information may only be shared:

• With authorized school personnel and guardians, or
• When required by law

6. Recognition & Achievement Awards

The Service includes digital badges, stars, certificates, plaques, and leaderboards used to:

• Encourage student engagement
• Promote academic, behavioral, and extracurricular achievement

Awards are granted based on criteria determined by the school. We are not responsible for disputes regarding award allocation or student ranking.

7. Intellectual Property

All platform content, branding, software, and documentation are protected by copyright and trademark laws. Users may not reproduce or distribute platform materials without explicit written permission.

Schools retain ownership of the data they submit.

8. Service Availability & Updates

We make every effort to ensure continuous and secure access but:

• No system is 100% error-free or available at all times
• Features may be updated, improved, or discontinued without prior notice

We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or errors beyond reasonable control.

9. Payments & Subscriptions

Where subscription fees apply:

• Payments must be made on time to maintain service access
• All fees are non-refundable unless stated otherwise
• Pricing and billing terms may be updated with notice

Premium features and customization may incur additional costs.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate accounts violating these Terms
• Terminate unused or inactive accounts

Users may request account closure through the school administrator. Upon termination, data retention will follow our Privacy Policy.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability will not exceed the amount paid for the Service during the previous 12 months

12. Indemnification

Users and institutions agree to hold us harmless against claims arising from:

• Misuse of the Service
• Violations of the Terms
• Unauthorized sharing or handling of data

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration or applicable jurisdiction courts.

14. Changes to Terms
